Print an adoption flyer for Will! Very sweet, 5 month old male Weimaraner/lab mix
Meet Will, a joyful boy who has so much love to give. He’s a GORGEOUS 8-month-old weimaraner/lab mix with the most beautiful amber eyes and regal posture.
He is a FABULOUS dog who is good with cats, good with other dogs, and good with most kids. He is currently fostered with a cat, a dog, a chinchilla, and 3 kids (boys - ages 8, 14, 16). He and the 8-year-old are the best of buds. He is a pro at walking on a leash, and his recall is excellent. He is potty trained to go on pee pads and outside, and he can easily stay home during the day for 7 or 8 hours.
He is an incredibly smart, fast learner who is so fun to train. He currently knows how to sit on command and knows how to come when called. He’s also trained to wait for his leash to be put on before heading out for a walk. We are working on teaching him to stay and shake. He loves to go on car rides, walks, hikes, Home Depot, and Pet Smart.
He would make a great running buddy as he loves to run, but he also enjoys prancing around like a reindeer and taking it slow on walks. When going on walks, he is not reactive to people or other dogs; he just enjoys taking in the smells and enjoying the exercise.
He sleeps through the night and gets in a routine pretty quickly. For a puppy, he’s on the calmer side, but he is also playful and loving. He especially likes dogs that like to chase, “battle,” as my son calls it, and tumble around. He also loves to chew on toys, especially bones, and he enjoys playing with stuffed animals. His favorite place is the dog park and gets along with and LOVES to play with all dogs, big and small.
He bonds VERY quickly with women and girls, and he is sometimes slower to warm up to some teenage boys, but overall, he is accepting of and excited to meet most people.
He does not do well at adoption events as he had a traumatic experience at an event in December, so if he is there, he might appear sad or afraid, which is the complete opposite of his true personality.
If you’re looking for a puppy but also want a dog who is pretty well-trained, he might just be the dog for you.
